HTML Versions

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is a markup language used to create web pages. Over time, new versions of HTML have been released with each new version adding new features, improving existing ones, and addressing security and accessibility concerns.

Here are the versions of HTML that have been released so far:

HTML 1.0: This was the first version of HTML, released in 1993. It was a simple version that included only basic tags.

HTML 2.0: This version was released in 1995 and included more features such as support for tables and forms.

HTML 3.2: This version was released in 1997 and included more advanced features such as style sheets, frames, and support for internationalization.

HTML 4.0: This version was released in 1997 and included even more features such as support for scripting languages like JavaScript, multimedia elements like audio and video, and improved support for forms.

HTML 4.01: This version was released in 1999 and was a minor update to HTML 4.0, addressing some of the issues with the previous version.

XHTML 1.0: This version was released in 2000 and was a reformulation of HTML 4.01 as an XML application. It included stricter rules for syntax and markup, making it more suitable for use with other XML-based technologies.

HTML5: This version was released in 2014 and is the most recent version of HTML. It includes many new features such as support for video and audio playback, a canvas for drawing and animation, and new semantic tags for better accessibility and SEO. HTML5 also includes improvements to form handling, error handling, and security.
