Users of ChatGPT Discover a "Professional Plan" at $42 Per Month

Despite ChatGPT's growing online popularity, there can be a premium. On Saturday, several users discovered a new "Upgrade plan" option on the ChatGPT web interface, which when clicked opened a window with two choices. As a result, they took to social media.

The new Professional Plan lets you expand the AI chatbot's capability with less unpredictable availability, quicker reaction times, and "priority access to new features" while still allowing you to use ChatGPT in the same way as previously. The Free Plan still allows you to do this. The new upgrade option may be found on the left slide menu if it has been sent out to you. We aren't experiencing it as of this writing, therefore it's likely that the functionality is only currently available to specific users or in some locations.

On its Discord channel earlier this month, OpenAI, the AI research company behind ChatGPT, announced the existence of a waitlist for a Professional tier with the aforementioned advantages. Anyone who signed up would reportedly be contacted to "set up a payment process and a pilot," according to the advertisement. Although OpenAI hasn't yet provided pricing details, the Professional Plan has always been available for $42 per month, so there isn't only a one-time purchase needed.
